Making my website and clinics easy to use

I want everyone to be able to find information, book and visit me, whatever their needs. This page explains how accessible my website and clinics are, and what to do if something doesn’t work for you.

Last updated: 23 October 2026

At a glance

  • I want everyone to be able to use my website and visit my clinics.
  • This website aims to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standard.
  • If something doesn’t work for you, I’ll give you the information another way.
  • I can make adjustments to your appointments. Just ask.

1. My commitment

I want my website and my clinics to work for everyone, including people who are disabled, neurodivergent or living with a long-term health condition.

I aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most UK organisations work to. I also make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, so that you can use my services in a way that suits you.

2. Using this website

You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% and have the page rearrange to fit your screen
  • move around every page using only a keyboard, starting with the “Skip to content” link at the top
  • see where you are, because links and buttons are outlined when you move to them with the keyboard
  • use a screen reader, with clear headings, link text and descriptions of the important photos
  • change colours, text size and fonts in your browser or device settings

AbilityNet’s My Computer My Way has free, step-by-step advice on making your phone or computer easier to use.

3. Parts that may not work as well

Some parts of the site aren’t fully accessible yet, mostly where I use services run by other companies.

  • Online booking. The booking calendar is provided by Practice Better, so I can’t change how it works. If you find it hard to use, call me on 0131 235 1204, call or text 07973 368189, or email health@jeandow.com and I’ll book your appointment for you.
  • Free guides. My free guides are PDF files, which may not work well with every screen reader. The sign-up forms are run by MailerLite, and you’ll be asked to confirm your email address before the guide is sent. If you’d like a guide in another format, such as plain text or large print, email me.
  • Videos. Captions on my YouTube videos may be created automatically and can contain mistakes. If you need a transcript, ask me.

4. Visiting my clinics

Edinburgh: 4 Albyn Place, Edinburgh EH2 4NG

  • There is no fully step-free entrance. The rear entrance on Wemyss Place Mews has two steps. Please let me know before your visit if you’d like to use it.
  • Pay and display parking available in Wemyss Place or nearby streets. The clinic is at the edge of Edinburgh’s Low Emission Zone.
  • The clinic is close to the West End tram stop and city centre buses.
  • If you have questions about getting around inside the building, ask me before you book.

Isle of Skye: 5 Achachork, Portree, Isle of Skye IV51 9HT

  • My Skye clinic is a garden clinic. Please get in touch before your visit and I’ll talk you through access and parking.

Online: if travelling is difficult, I offer consultations by video call.

5. Adjustments I can make

If something would make it easier for you to see me, just tell me. You might ask for:

  • information in another format, such as large print or plain text
  • extra time, or a break during your appointment
  • someone to come with you, such as a friend, family member or carer
  • a video consultation instead of visiting a clinic
  • contact by email or text instead of phone calls

I’ll do what I reasonably can. You don’t need to explain your condition unless you want to.

If you use British Sign Language, you can contact me through Contact Scotland BSL, a free video interpreting service for BSL users in Scotland.

6. Tell me about a problem

If you find something on this website hard to use, or you need information in a different format, please let me know. It helps if you tell me the page address and what went wrong.

I’ll reply as soon as I can.

7. If you’re not happy with my reply

If you’re not happy with how I’ve responded, you can get free advice from the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). Phone 0808 800 0082 or textphone 0808 800 0084.

8. How I checked this website

I last checked this website on 23 October 2026. I tested the main pages on computer and phone screen sizes using automated accessibility tests, and checked them with a keyboard. I fixed the problems I found, including gold text that was too pale to read easily and photos without descriptions.

I’ll review this statement at least once a year, and whenever I make big changes to the website.
